How this project is helping
Where we're making a difference
Rajasthan is located in North-West India and is the largest Indian state by area and the seventh largest by population. It is on India's northwestern side, where it comprises most of the wide and inhospitable Thar Desert, hence why Rajasthan is an ideal location for solar power farms.
About the evaluators
"Gold Standard for the Global Goals sets the standard for climate and development interventions to quantify, certify and maximise their impact, creating value for people around the world and the planet we share."
The details this project
This Gold Standard certified project involves the installation of a 20 megawatt solar power project in Rajasthan, northern India. This will generate clean, renewable electricity that will then be exported to the Indian electricity grid.
This project will displace 35,951 megawatts per year of electricity from the grid that would otherwise be generated by fossil-fuel based power plants. Therefore it will avoid 35,149 tonnes of CO2e per annum.
The implementation of this solar energy project will also provide job opportunities for local people, during erection, commissioning and maintenance of the solar plant. The electricity supply in the nearby area will also be improved which directly and indirectly improves the economy and lifestyle of the area.
Remove your entire carbon footprint by planting certified trees and take ownership of verified offset from carbon projects to reduce your negative climate impact.Learn more
