Modern Slavery, Human Rights, and Ethical Labour Policy

1. Purpose and Scope

1.1 SkootEco is committed to providing a sustainability platform that empowers businesses and individuals to make environmentally responsible choices. This policy outlines our commitment to combating modern slavery, protecting human rights, and ensuring ethical labour practices throughout our operations and supply chain.

1.2 This policy applies to all employees, contractors, suppliers, and partners of SkootEco Group Ltd.

2. Modern Slavery and Forced Labour

2.1 SkootEco Ltd endorses and complies with the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, including the transparency requirements outlined in section 54(1).

2.2 The Company prohibits any form of slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour, and human trafficking within its operations and supply chain.

2.3 Examples of prohibited practices include, but are not limited to:

 a) Human trafficking

 b) Forced labour

 c) Debt bondage

 d) Forced marriage

 e) Domestic servitude

 f) Exploitation in criminal activities

3. Anti-Human Trafficking

3.1 SkootEco Ltd maintains a zero-tolerance approach to human trafficking in all its forms.

3.2 The Company is committed to:

 a) Raising awareness expressing its standpoint about human trafficking among employees and stakeholders

 b) Implementing robust screening processes for suppliers and partners

 c) Collaborating with law enforcement and NGOs when needed

 d) Providing support to any identified employees being a victim of Human trafficking 

4. Human Rights

4.1 SkootEco respects and upholds internationally recognised human rights as set out in the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International labour Organization's Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.

4.2 The Company is committed to:

 a) Providing safe and healthy working conditions

 b) Respecting freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining

 c) Promoting diversity and inclusion

 d) Protecting privacy and data rights

 e) Ensuring non-discrimination in all aspects of employment

5. Child labour

5.1 SkootEco strictly prohibits the use of child labour in any form within its operations and supply chain.

5.2 The Company adheres to the following criteria regarding child labour:

 a) No employment of individuals below the legal minimum working age

 b) No hazardous work for individuals under 18 years of age

 c) Commitment to education and development opportunities for young workers

 d) Regular audits to ensure compliance with child labour laws and regulations

 e) Working with local charities to support children’s mental health and wellbeing 

6. Due Diligence and Supply Chain Management

6.1 SkootEco implements a comprehensive due diligence process to assess and address risks related to modern slavery, human rights violations, and unethical labour practices.

6.2 The Company requires all suppliers to:

 a) Comply with this policy and all applicable laws and regulations

 b) Implement their own due diligence processes to ensure compliance throughout their supply chains

 c) Provide fair wages, benefits, and working conditions to their employees and stakeholders

 d) Participate in audits and assessments as requested by SkootEco Ltd

6.3 SkootEco reserves the right to terminate relationships with suppliers or partners who fail to meet the standards set forth in this policy.

7. Training and Awareness

7.1 All employees are required to complete training on modern slavery, human rights, and ethical labour practices upon hiring and biennially thereafter.

7.2 The Company will provide additional training and resources to employees in high-risk roles or departments.

8. Reporting and Whistleblowing

8.1 SkootEco maintains a confidential whistleblowing mechanism for reporting concerns related to this policy (please refer to Whistleblowing policy)

8.2 The Company prohibits retaliation against any individual who reports concerns in good faith.

9. Responsibility and Review

9.1 The Board of Directors holds ultimate responsibility for this policy.

9.2 The following roles have specific responsibilities:

 a) CEO: Annual review of policy, maintenance of training records

 b) CEO: Annual review and update of contracts (£5k+ spend)

 c) CEO: Alignment of policy with overall sustainability goals

 d) Head of Operations: Supplier due diligence and compliance monitoring

9.3 This policy will be reviewed annually and updated as necessary to ensure ongoing effectiveness and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

10. Commitment to Continuous Improvement

10.1 SkootEco is committed to continuously improving its practices and policies related to modern slavery, human rights, and ethical labour.

10.2 The Company will regularly benchmark its performance against industry best practices and seek external certifications where appropriate.
